William S-Y. WANG was Professor of Linguistics at the University of California in Berkeley for 30 years. He was elected to the Academia Sinica in 1992. In 1973, he founded the Journal of Chinese Linguistics, the first international publication in the field, and continues as its editor till this day. Currently he is Research Professor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

台南「做16歲」 賴清德勉孩子勇於負責

農曆七夕，台南府城多家廟宇分別舉辦傳統「做16歲」成年禮，最具代表性的是中山路的七娘媽廟「開隆宮」，一早就擠滿了家長帶著小孩前往祭拜，市長賴清德專程前往道賀，祝福成年禮的青少年們轉大人，期勉他們要愛惜自己、勇於負責。

開隆 僧七娘媽是府城最具歷史的嬰孩守護神，府城傳統習俗中，孩子只要年16歲就可以支領成人工資，必須周告諸親友，沿襲到今演化成祝福青少年長大的成年禮，寄予成長中的孩子無限期望與祝福。

許多府城的家長多還保有此一傳統習俗，一早就前往祭拜，市政府也在傳統的開隆宮之外，另在東區關帝廳也舉辦成年禮活動，市長賴清德一早忙著趕場，分享年輕人成長的喜悅，祝賀成年的孩子們勇於面對未來的挑戰，做一位盡責有任感的人。

開隆宮前擠滿家長與成年禮生，現場氣氛超嗨，鬧哄哄地好不熱鬧，禮生們穿著狀元服祭拜、鑽桌腳，完成成年禮的程式，宣佈自己長大了。
